The Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program uses federal Homeowner Assistance Funds to help homeowners affected by the COVID-19 pandemic get caught up on Past-due housing/mobile home payments; property taxes; lot rent; insurance; and housing utilities.

As of June 30, 2023, the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program has provided over 3,500 households with mortgage payment assistance and more than 500 households from foreclosure. The Department of Local Affairs is currently receiving about 550 applications per month.

Advocacy of this program to all corners of Colorado is critical to ensure all Coloradans have an opportunity to utilize the program to stay in their homes. The media and outreach kit is designed to provide DOLA partners resources to help advocate opportunities for all Colorado residents.

    The State of Colorado has provided emergency mortgage assistance to more than 2500 households. Funding is still available for homeowners facing foreclosure or financial hardship and can be applied for on the Department of Local Affairs’ website at www.MortgageHelpCO.org.
